Taipei, Taiwan, September 26, 2008 – The GIGABYTE Open Overclocking Championship, GO OC 2008, the world’s largest Overclocking competition, successfully took place September 25, 2008. A total of 23 teams from 20 different countries worldwide gathered at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan to compete for the title of the GO OC 2008 champion. After 13 hours of serious competition, GIGABYTE is pleased to announce team Sweden, consisting of teammates elmor and SF3D, was crowned champion of the Best P45 OC. The winner of the GO OC 2008 Free Style Contest was team USA, with teammates FUGGER and Vapor, who broke 5 overclocking world records during the second scheduled 2 hour competition.

The GO OC 2008 event was kicked off with an opening speech from Richard Ma, Senior Vice President of GIGABYTE Group. “First, I would like to thank you all for joining us today for this history event. Today’s competition is going to be very exciting and I hope the exposure from this event will help showcase your overclocking talents to the world.”
Following was a cheerleading squad performance to wish the contestants good luck and to get them ready to face off in overclocking battle. In addition to the overclocking competition area, GIGABYTE had on display a motherboard wall of history, highlighting GIGABYTE’s motherboard achievements over the past twenty years. Also on showcase were several live and static demos, including motherboards featuring their latest Ultra Durable 3 technology, as well as a sneak peak of Intel’s upcoming X58 platform.
GIGABYTE also showcased the latest high-end products from the sponsors of the event as well as the hardware used in the competition. First class hardware is the key to achieving successful, record-breaking overclocks, and GIGABYTE was honored to have several industry-leading venders including Intel, ATI, Corsair, Western Digital and ViewSonic to participate in this historic event. With their outstanding support, the GO OC 2008 will be remembered by overclockers and enthusiasts alike as the biggest and most extreme overclocking competition in history.
